First I spun up a few singles with the intention of plying them together. I wanted my yarn to be 100% hand spun, but I cheated a little bit and ended up using one machine made strand because I liked the color (flourescent pink) so much.
My goal was a 3-ply yarn, which I have to say was a little more work than I expected. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but my singles were getting all tangled up in the process of plying and I wanted to scream. Turns out the final product doesn't have nearly the twist I was hoping for, but the colors look fantastic together.
I'm now in the process of spinning some hemp so I can make Josh a new necklace. Here's a pic of the raw goods so you can get an idea of what I'm working with.
