The Greatest Day!

Yesterday I drove out to Middletown, PA where I met my friend Jay at Saturday's Market. We were both in need of some good thrifting, but I had no idea just how much fun we were going to have, or how productive we were going to be.

I was initially on the lookout for old planters and records, but I was keeping my eyes open for any unlikely finds. It wasn't long after our arrival that Jay picked up two small olive green glasses and suggested using them as candle holders at my wedding. Within minutes, we basically figured out my whole wedding aesthetic! Thanks to Jay, my original and boring idea of 'one planter and two votives per table', turned into a hodge podge of colored glass in earth tones with metal, ceramic, and wooden accents. After that, I was on a mission for anything that fit our color scheme.

While roaming around the market, we met an interesting woman names Janice who has a small stand selling emu and paw paw
products. Intriqued, we stopped and spoke with her for a while. She explained to us the benefits of emu oil and history of the amazing paw paw fruit. (Before that moment, I had never even heard of paw paw!) I was impressed with her knowledge of wild edibles and the native plants of PA. She was so easy to talk to and she answered all our questions. I wished we had more time to sit and converse, but we were on a mission and I felt the pressure to move along. Before we left, she sold me some paw paw seeds and gave me the run down on how to properly care for the plant. Something tells me I will be visiting her again in the very near future.

After a few hours, we decided we were done with the marktet. We grabbed some homemade chips and sweet pickles and headed over to Annville. We cleaned out the The Blue Mountain Thrift store and took home two boxes of goodies from the Antique Depot. All in all, I'd say we made out like bandits!
